Interreg Europe - FLAVOR

The Interreg FLAVOR project, initiated in 2024 by the École du Goût, officially launched this May with a first study visit to the lead partner in Burgenland (Austria). Together with producers, experts and political representatives from our nature parks, we had the opportunity to meet our partners from Hungary, Greece, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Albania, Lithuania, Switzerland and Austria for the first time.

Over three days, we discovered how local food culture, with its typical wines, Hungarian-influenced cuisine and culinary traditions, plays a key role in the rural development of this region. Through encounters with farmers, educators, tourism professionals and local decision-makers, we were able to see how gastronomy preserves traditions and local identity while boosting the economy and contributing to climate change resilience.

This first study trip impressively illustrated the potential of food culture as a strategic tool for revitalising rural areas.
